The DC Strokers Golf Club was formed when founder Ralph Mills, a former member of the Atlanta Strokers Golf Club, pitched the idea of forming a DC chapter to a few of his DC golfing buddies, friends, and fraternity brothers. With encouragement from the Atlanta Strokers, the DC Strokers was formed in the Spring of 2004. The first DC Strokers' tournament was held at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville, MD.

The Charter Members are: Ralph Mills, Erwin Thomas, Timothy Sultzer, Timothy Smith, Bill Parker, W. David Hubbard, Bobby Coates, Harvey Beckham, Dennis Howland II, Rodney Britt, Marconi Buchannon, Robert Lyeseight, Robert Lee, Lou Mungo, and Kevin Barnes.

In 2008, the club leaders decided they wanted to become a non-real estate owning member of the Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) so they could offer official USGA handicaps to all members. That winter, the club drafted and ratified by-laws, created a handicap committee, and was welcomed in by the MSGA. The 2008 Board of Directors consisted of the following:

Ralph Mills – President
W. David Hubbard – Vice President
Rodney Britt – Treasurer
Harvey Beckham – Secretary
Timothy Smith – Competition Chairman
William Parker – Rules and Etiquette Chairman
Marconi Buchannon – Uniform Chairman
Dennis Howland, II – Handicap Chairman

The DC Strokers has provided top quality service to hundreds of members and guests since the inaugural 2004 season. The earlier seasons were so successful that the group decided to expand the concept by increasing the number of rounds and by introducing mid-season and year-end tournaments. Our mission is to deliver a tour-like experience to the “everyday” golfer – amateur golfers just like you!
